Finlands svenska biblioteksförening r.f. (FSBF, Finland’s Swedish Library Association) is a non-governmental organization, with responsibility for Finland-Swedish library issues. The aim of the association is to monitor and promote the development of library activities and the community spirit of Swedish-speaking library professionals in Finland.
One of the strengths of the Finland’s Swedish Library Association is that it brings together different types of libraries: public, academic, polytechnic, research and special libraries. The association is open to anyone interested, both library professionals and students in the field as well as other library friends. Members are provided with information on developments and current topics in the library field, e.g. in the journal Bibban published three times a year. Through FSBF, members have the opportunity to participate in public debate on current issues in the library field.
The annual conference, Finlands svenska biblioteksdagar, is the largest learning and networking event of the association. In addition, the expert network for libraries in higher education institutions arranges webinars on different topics about twice a year. FSBF also organises other courses as well as educational trips for its members.
FSBF cooperates with the other Finnish library associations as well as with Nordic library associations and within the international associations IFLA and EBLIDA.
